Ghibran makes phenomenal use of The city of Prague Philharmonic orchestra in Melam kottudaa. The orchestral splendor is a consistent backdrop to Gold Devaraj’s engaging singing of the bittersweet melody that is a somber reminder of the serious lack of water. Thoranam aayiram carries a whiff of Charukesi raaga (goes off in the anupallavi) that gets massively and brilliantly amplified through the expansive orchestration and Vaikom Vijayalakshmi’s soulful vocals. Sundarayyar’s diction is embarrassingly bad in Pudhu varalaare, though Ghibran’s imaginatively splendid orchestration aces it all, including the generic, future-would-be-better tune. Aramm is a short but stupendously mounted soundtrack by Ghibran!
