Vettai (Music review), Tamil – Yuvan Shankar Raja

Dham dham rehashes that typical Lingusami-style family song with absolutely no extra effort, while Damma damma goes the same way – yet another Dhaavani potta deepavali. If Kattipudi enna works, albeit only minimally, it is only because of Vijay Prakash’s vocals – as a tune it is utterly predictable and stale. Thaiyath thakka is the soundtrack’s weakest, among the already weak music – every note, rhythm, background is familiar and reeks of complete lack of imagination. The only solace here is Pappa pappa – a lively track made catchy thanks to the overpowering, earthy rhythm. Sadly underwhelming package from Yuvan.
