Pokkiri Raja (Music review), Tamil – D.Imman

Posted by Karthik

Imman goes gruffy and angsty in Athuvutta, perhaps the catchiest and danc’iest love-failure song. The reprise takes it a bit slow, but retains the feel. Imman pulls off an encore in Taaru taara, but with a more dissonant grunge sound. Rain rain makes up for the nursery rhyme’ish lyrics by opting for a punchy tune and rhythm, sung wonderfully by Neeti Mohan and Varun Parandhaman. The lyrics go even more haywire in Bubbly as Papon channels his inner Tamil Udit Narayanan, while Imman’s foot-tapping sound holds it together. The Waltzing Whistle theme is whimsical, very-European and lovely! Pokkiri dance Raja.
