My Friend Pinto (Music review), Hindi – Ajay-Atul, Hitesh Sonik, Shamir Tandon & Kavita Seth

Barring Kunal’s enthusiastic vocals, Dhinchak zindagi follows the standard musicals template. Kunal gets great company from lyricist Amitabh Bhattacharya in Do kabootar, but the tune continues to seem bland, expect for minor flourishes. Thankfully, Ajay-Atul find their groove in Take it easy, an addictive, splashy tune, and the imaginative Hindi rock, Yaadon ki album, complete with gorgeous guitar and neat verses from Amitabh! Shamir Tandon and Kavita Seth’s composition Intezaar sounds more like Dil hoom hoom kare version 2.0, but Hitesh Sonik’s lone composition, Tu is a dreamy, whispery winner, ably delivered by Sunidhi. Middling second third* fourth^ Hindi outing by Ajay-Atul.

*As pointed out by Viplove Gupte on Twitter, Ajay-Atul’s Hindi debut was Ram Gopal Varma’s Gayab, followed by Singham.

^ As Ameya points out in the comments, Ajay-Atul were indeed part of Viruddh’s soundtrack too.
