Naresh Iyer’s vocals make an impact as much as Selva’s conversationally coarse lyrics and that oddly accentuated backgrounds, in Naan sonnadhum. Kaadhal yen kaadhal and Voda voda up the ante in loutish lyrics, by Pa. Vijay, and Dhanush, respectively – but GVP does wrap them in listenable tunes! Enenna seidhom‘s Doordarshan-chorus style is an interesting diversion, while Selva gets GVP to do the Yuvan in the theme! Pirai thedum is the soundtrack’s highlight – haunting melody, beautifully written by Na. Muthukumar, and sung wonderfully well by GVP and Saindhavi! Despite inconsistent lyrics, Mayakkam Enna is a mighty competent soundtrack, at least music-wise!
