Out of the two Shankar Mahadevan-composed tracks, Mehrmaa ve is a strangely 80s filmy melody; thankfully, it’s spunkily arranged. The other track, Na re, is more like it – edgy, trio’ish sound. Akriti composes four tracks and two of them make the cut fabulously – the sonorous Chal kaheen sang and the really well-packaged melody (by Tubby & Parik), Chhoone do. Even her rendition of Noor Jehan’s Dil vi deewana is very well intended and produced, though the other two songs, Gazab and Taabiz are weak. But, as a debut, Akriti Kakkar’s solo, self-titled album is a darn good effort!
