Harish Raghavendra sounds his usual, predictable best in Mazhai peyyum – the tune is goes through routine melodic motions with not much innovation. Shreya Ghoshal’s Kandaen kanmaniye and its male variant, Vaazhkai yaaridam, by Vijay Yesudas, are sorry tunes – both in terms of their feel and quality. Bombay (Is MNS reading this?) Jayashree’s Vizhigalile too is mighty staid as a tune – it’s just her vocals that make some difference. Gandharvanin kottai is pathetic and very 90s item material, while star vocalist Silambarasan’s Thallakulam is amazingly abusive, violent and stupid. Ganesh Raghavendra makes an incredibly uninteresting debut in Renigunta.
