I’m outraged at Aadesh Shrivastava brainlessly expressing his outrage at Bachchan’s portrayal in Slumdog Millionaire. So, here’s a quote-to-quote response, besides those incredible comments he’s been getting in the page linked above!
“How dare you degrade our national icon Amitabh Bachchan?”
Meaning: “I need to say these things about the B so that I get at least one song in a no-good film in 2009 where I can also get B to sing and get some Page 3 mention”
Composer Aadesh Shrivastava has been in and out of the US collaborating with rapper Wyclef Jean. But now after Slumdog Millionaire, Aadesh says he’s embarrassed to walk on the American streets.
Meaning: “Oh boy, I hope to continue sweeping Wyclef’s studio, else, I don’t have anything else to do in life and in US, in general”
“I’m so upset. They’ve started calling Indians ‘slumdogs’, just like ‘coolie’ was a gaali in Britain. Now in the US I feel slumdog is a gaali for us Indians. Mumbai has given me everything. To see the city being shown as a place of dirt filth and crime only is very humiliating. Even I can make a film on child prostitution and pedophilia. But it won’t get Oscars because I am not a gora.”
Meaning: “I really hope no one takes the last sentence seriously. Heck, I can’t even make decent music, leave alone a film on child prostitution”
“What f…k right does the director have to show Mumbai as a slum? Now we are considered a slum city in all parts of the world. Humlog kahin mooh dikhane laayak nahin rahe.”
Meaning: “The things I have to say to stay in the news…this is getting tougher by the day”
While applauding A. R. Rahman’s music, Aadesh says he’d never be part of a film that makes India look like a slum. “I’m so upset. It’s a disgusting movie. Being an Indian it was doubly humiliating to be watching the film with Americans. Even if Steven Spielberg asked me to compose music for a film that makes fun of India I won’t do it. “
Meaning: I’m so f%$#&@* annoyed that Rahman got this recognition. Look at me! I’ve been slogging to tag some gora names to my music and career and nobody cares. Hope Steven bhai gets curious enough to read this and calls me.
“I puked when I saw that kid smeared in shit asking for Bachchan Saab’s autograph. What the f…k was that? Does Danny Boyle know what Bachchan Saab means to us Indians? Who would dare approach him like that?”
Meaning: Lick, lick, lick away.
Aadesh bhai…chill! Look at this scene positively. Danny just shows that Bachchan is loved by people of all races, all color and all extreme levels of body odour, in India!
