Karthik rules over the catchy and very in-sync Ilamai kanavugal, while Unakkulle irukkiren’s sedate, vintage melody is alluring. Bhavatharini’s Kannanukku is a passable semi-classical with occasional display of Raja’s past prowess. Koothu onnu is tantalizingly seductive though bordering on the crude, but the title song is plain routine. Raja’s own vocals mark the meaningfully written Kattillukku mattundhaana, but this one, along with Ulagam kedakkudhu, are painfully stale, except for Raja entering composing 2.0, using the same ‘raaga.com’ loop adapted by Yuvan in Pudhupettai. Dhanam’s music is very Raja. That used to be a compliment – these days, it denotes ennui.
