Sanam Re (Music review), Hindi – Amaal Malik, Mithoon, Jeet Ganguli and Epic Bhangra

Of the two songs by Mithoon, the title song works smoothly given it mixes racy guitars with his trademark melody, sung darn well by Arijit. His other, Tere liye, is mind-numbingly maudlin. Amaal’s Hua hain aaj is an odd throwback to Nadeem-Shravan’s music, while Gazab ka hain is middlingly breezy, propped by Arijit’s vocals. Falak Shabir sings Amaal’s last, Kya tujhe, an ambient pathos number that’s passable. Epic Bhangra-composed Humne pee rakhi is pale Honey Singh imitation. Nikhil-Vinay’s 2001 Tum bin gets a half-hearted recreation, while Shaan’s lively rendition lifts Jeet Ganguli’s playfully retro-styled Chhote chhote. Usual mixed-bag T-series material.
