Kalavadiya Pozhudhugal (Music review), Tamil – Bharadwaj

Posted by Karthik

Azhagazhage harks back to a time when Bahardwaj was adept at creating Laxmikant-Pyarelal styled Hindi-type melodies; considering this film’s production timeline, this seems understandable. Cheran inge is a fantastic melange of inspirational, poignant lyrics and a powerful tune – well sung by Manikumar and Ananthu, with actor Sathyaraj providing voice-over too! Hariharan and Sadhana Sargam elevate the simple tune of Kutramulla to a new height, while the conversational melody Thayavu seithu stands out for Vairamuthu’s lyrics more than the tune. Thiruvudaiyan’s rustic voice rules beautifully over the ominous tune of Thedi thedi. A good back-to-form album from the now-dormant Bharadwaj.
