With sparks of Rahman in Enge nee – harmonious chorus with neat use of guitar in the backgrounds; and shades of Harris Jeyaraj in Kaatrodu solli – the sans-music, male vocal, with catchy, intermittent humming, Manu Ramesan definitely shows promise. Harish Raghavendra and Sujatha’s beautifully lilting Yaaridam naan is the pick of the soundtrack, while – strangely enough – despite SPB, En kaadhale sounds muddled and overbearing. Manu lives up to his debut Malayalam album’s standards (Nilaavinte Kayyoppu, 2003) and his illustrious father’s (lyricist Ramesan Nair) legacy in Pidichirukku’s soundtrack – but perhaps requires a more noteworthy film to make his mark.
