Okka chinukulo is every bit the lush Shaan melody that he often composes in Malayalam. The tune’s build-up is fantastic and the soft, harmonium-layered percussion harmonium is thoroughly enticing, as is Sachin Warrier—and in particular—Anne Amie vocals. Pranavi Acharya is equally good in Pacha pacha kalale, with Shaan’s tune working pretty well again, though it is relatively less engaging. Shaan confidently takes on Visirina banthalle himself and the carnival’esque sound and a punchy hook. Vanavaasam is a quintessential wedding song with a beautiful whiff of the semi-classical ending the soundtrack on a joyous high. Good Telugu debut by Shaan, this!
PS: Yes, Shaan did score 2 new/original songs in Saheba Subramanyam, the Telugu remake of Thattathin Marayathu, but the album otherwise used Shaan’s own Malayalam tunes as base. Prematho Mee Karthik seems like his first, proper debut – all new Telugu-only tunes.
