Starting with Vaikom Vijaylakshmi’s Tamil folk, to techno and eventually to a mix of zingy techno and kuthu, along with Mahalingam’s background vocals, Aaravalli is consistently catchy and inventive. Yugabharathi’s imaginative wordplay shines all through Kutheeti, with Sathya Prakash singing the charming melody really well, as the other Sathya uses an Ikatara-like instrument to great effect. Papparamittai‘s brass-band sound is punchy and used rather cleverly, on top of Sreeramachandra’s confident singing and the occasional jazz’y interludes. Jayamoorthy’s full-throated rendition rocks Ayyo paavam‘s Imman-style foot-stomping love-failure template. Good variety by C.Sathya, in the four very listenable songs in Velainu Vandhutta Vellaikaaran.
