Wagah (Music review), Tamil – D.Imman

Posted by Karthik

In Sollathaan nenaikiraen, Imman employs a commonplace faux-retro sound, but Divya Kumar’s exuberant singing makes up for any ennui. Yedho maayam is trademark Imman—sweeping, likeably familiar melody loaded with Enigma-styled backgrounds. After Ennamma ippadi panreengalema, Imman picks up another iconic line—Aaniyae pudunga venaam (from Friends, uttered by Vadivelu)—and makes a perfunctory dance track out of it. The Wagah theme puts together a lot of disparate sounds. The soundtrack’s best is the deeply melodic Aasai kadhal, sung beautifully by Vandana Srinivasan. It is possibly Shivaranjani, given how it invokes Raja’s Eeramaana Rojaave number, Vaa vaa anbe! Predictably decent soundtrack by Imman.
