Yennamo Yedho (Music review), Tamil – D.Imman

Mosale, with its unusual word start spins a superb tapestry of sounds, led by guitar and that tantalizing nadaswaram! Deepak and Pooja deliver this addictive track really well. Neeyenna periya appatakkara seems like a complete ode to Santhanam – uses his trademark word and also his drunken outlook, to expand on a tipsy tiff between the guy and the girl, with topical and hilarious lyrics by Karky. Anirudh and Harshita are perfect for this fun track! Imman makes up for the middling tune of Shut up your mouth with captivating music and Karky too adds to the effect with youthful retorts that go with the song’s feel. Imman sings Muttaalaai muttaalaai with his usual flourish and lends a fantastic dimension to the song’s already engaging melody! Maria Roe Vincent too offers good pop support with her English verses! The soundtrack’s highlight is Vaikom Vijayalakshmi’s soulful vocals in Puthiya ulagai, a tune that Imman crafts so well that the voice and tune combo works pure magic! After a stellar year in 2013, Imman has opened his 2014 account impressively with Yennamo Yedho; his music here offers a lot of variety, is apt for the youthful theme and is very well produced!
