Everything just works seamlessly in Tumhi ho bandhu – Kavita Seth’s vocals, Neeraj Shridhar’s super enthu hook and Pritam high-energy music… everything! Shalmali Kholgade, fresh from her Pareshaan high, rocks Daru desi, along with Benny Dayal – a spirited, groovy song in true Pritam style. Yaariyaan‘s rock version, with Mohan ‘Agnee’ Kannan and Shilpa Rao, and the reprise featuring Sunidhi and Arijit are both phenomenally soulful, incorporating unplugged phrases where Mohan and Sunidhi are absolutely incredible! Second hand jawaani‘s lyrics by Irshad Kamil stands out, but the item’ish tune doesn’t, while the classic Punjabi folk song, Jugni, gets yet another pulsating, addictive mix, featuring Arif Lohar and Harshdeep Kaur. Javed Bashir’s Tera naam japdi phiran is highly appealing bubblegum pop, that retains its lively sound even better in the remix. As if all this enjoyable music wasn’t enough, Pritam tops the soundtrack with the wonderfully rich and innovative Luttna, in two versions, at that – the former, a psychedelic mix with the music forming patterns in highly unusual ways, and the latter, a slightly more conformist and pleasant variant, both featuring amazing vocals by Masuma Anwar, Sahir Ali Bagga and Anupam Amod. Bloody heady cocktail of a soundtrack from Pritam!
