Paesu (Music review), Tamil – Yuvan Shankar Raja

Vennira iravugal is typical Yuvan – every bit of the song is reminiscent of Yuvan’s signature style, topped by his own singing that goes stylishly off-key occasionally. En per devathai and Unthan varthayil seem like a labored melodies reflective of Yuvan’s former, middling self when this film may have been conceived. Ithayam pesuthey starts off on a similar note, but thankfully morphs into a haunting song starting with Reeta’s ambient humming just as the pallavi ends! Kettimelam tries many things, including a smattering of Hindi, but doesn’t work as a tune. Strangely tolerable soundtrack from Yuvan’s not so distant past.
