Pritam’s remix of the Inteqam classic, Aa jaane jaan is bland and unidimensional despite Javed Jaffrey’s desperate attempts to infuse some life. Attrah baras ki is straight out of a sleazy indipop album with trite, tired arrangements, while Band baaja takes the cake in outdatedness – goofy, oddball track that seems intended, situation-wise, the way it ends up. Dil to saala doesn’t warrant any comment – seems like factory-produced…from the Pritam-factory of stock tunes and Working girls is no different – banality redefined! This soundtrack is the abyss…for Pritam. That’s good in a way – it can’t get worse than this.

Note: This film is lifted off the Hollywood film, Nine to Five. It was earlier lifted by Kamal Hassan for the Tamil film, ‘Magalir Mattum’. Kamal Hassan even made it in Hindi, titled, ‘Ladies Only’, where he played the role of a corpse, made popular by Nagesh in the Tamil version. The lecherous boss’ role was played by Nasser in Tamil and Randhir Kapoor played that role in Hindi. ‘Ladies Only’ had Sarika, Seema Biswas (who has a role in Hello Darling too!!) and Shilpa Shirodkar in lead roles. I do not recall the name the film’s director – he was an ad filmmaker…was it Shantanu Shorey (Kimi Katkar’s husband)?…seems he couldn’t see eye-to-eye with Kamal after much of the film was shot and the film was eventually abandoned! It did very well in Tamil and is quite a funny film!
