Achu vellam sounds like an unpolished version of Poo’s Sivakasi rathiye as the poor singing and jumbled tune doesn’t work at any level. Kadhal jodi onnu, with its eclectic orchestration even in a folk milieu is definitely better, while the composer gets back in the game beautifully in the joyous duet, Kannakkol thiruda, sung by Silambarasan and Saindhavi. Chinmayi’s Kodiyodu tharama poo uses the Raja folk template and works within that premise even if it’s rough around the edges, while Muthu muthu, despite its catchy rhythms is pedestrian, as a tune. After two disastrous soundtracks, Kumaran redeems himself, albeit mildly.
