Vaanampaadigal seems as contemporary as the veteran can get, with its peppy, hopeful outlook, while Paattu kekka starts off annoyingly, with just the pallavi making the cut. Pudhu pournami has the composer dipping into phrases from his oft-used synth-melody bank, with even Sriram Parthasarathy sounding lackluster. Pacha meni is an 80s item song rudely making its way to the present, but Naan pirandha nerama’s mother sentiment is neatly packaged. The soundtrack’s highlight is Enge nee sendraalum, with its gorgeous violin bits and a tune that demonstrates Raja’s mastery over a complex melody. Kannukkulle drags another synth-step down the composer’s obsolescence.
