Music review: Antaheen (Bengali – Shantanu Moitra)

The title song, with its French prelude and Shaan’s impeccable vocals is a delight but a prominent interlude seems to be inspired by something oh-so-familiar. Anindya’s Bhindeshi tara and Shreya’s Shokal ase na seem like the composer’s Hindi tracks, only more restrained. Jao pakhi has an interesting structure with just the mukhra and antara’s merely hummed by Pronob Biswas. Muthor mahal evokes lethargy while Shreya and Babul Supriyo are in neat form in the very tuneful Pherari mon. Antaheen’s OST may well be Shantanu Moitra’s Bengali debut, but he works with tunes that are predominantly extended from his Hindi repertoire.
