Akira (Music review), Kannada – Ajaneesh Loknath

Hudugaru yella starts off like the poor-man’s Gatiya ilidu, but morphs into pulsating masala, with a catchy ‘Beda beda swamy’ kuthu part! Kanna sanneyindalene sounds like a more melodic mix of Anirudh’s Aathi (Kathi), and works wonderfully in Puneet Rajkumar’s vocals. Despite Vijay Prakash’s valiant efforts Namma areal ondina is standard-issue Kannada filmy pop, but Vijay gets a better package in Yetthakond hogu ba, that comes alive with its dubstep mix. Ditto for the ear-friendly techno-heavy Mincho mincho that Ajaneesh headlines. Godu, the power-kuthu, is just passable, while Aliside‘s melancholic turn is a welcome relief. Competent commercial outing by Ajaneesh.
