Rangoon (Music review), Tamil – R.H.Vikram, Vishal Chandrashekhar

Na.Muthukumar’s poignant lines about life as a journey, and Vikram’s exotic instrumental mix (including, fittingly, Burmese Harp) adds weight to the pensive Yaathreega. Maria Kavita Thomas’s splendid singing props Enai marakirene beyond its generic pop outlook. Thottil madiyil‘s serene lullaby is enhanced by Chinmayi’s rendition. Vikram’s best is Foreign return, that, despite the meandering flow, keeps the focus on the energetic kuthu. Given SATTVA’s involvement, the Bangla Ey jajabor, by Vishal Chandrashekhar, is generic Indipop and background’ish. Vishal scores better with the blues rock Nee illa, with Yazin Nizar in blistering form. Decent debut by R.H.Vikram in a passable soundtrack.
