Kazhugu (Music review), Tamil – Yuvan Shankar Raja

Aambalaikkum pombalaikkum is as blasé as any faux folks song can get; uninteresting and predictable from every angle. Pushpavanam Kupusamy tries his best to infuse life into the racy Vaadi vaadi, but the tune takes a life of its own and refuses to stick. Yuvan’s pushes his luck with his tentative vocals in Paadhakathi kannupattu and the staid, sobering hardly offers any solace. If the soundtrack stands, it is solely due to the very-Raja’ish Aathadi manasudhaan! Both the versions – Priya’s and Karthikraja’s offer a vintage Raja-style melody, backed by mesmerizing orchestration topped by sweeping violins! One trick pony…vulture!
