Therodum Veethiyile (Music review), Tamil – D.Imman

Engirunthu mulaikkudhindha is a wonderful combination of a gorgeous tune and perfect orchestration – fabulously sung by Hariharan and Shreya. Poonkothai is a raunchy mix of familiar sounds and loops; well sung by Sangeetha Rajeshwaran, but nothing more. With Maranthuvidu, Imman aims for Raja-style violins and within that Mayamalavagowlai structure he gets most of it right too – just that the lyrics mixing English sounds awkward. Solla solla seems like a templatized mix of Harris – middling, at best, while Thaalelo offers life lessons in a conventional package. Therodum Veethiyile is a lot less effective compared to Imman’s recent repertoire.
