Athmiya (Kannada, Manoj George)

The choice of Shankar Mahadevan for the very peppy Aa bili bili is bang on – this is one rocking track with a lot of variations and some cool 80s, ABBA style backgrounds. Blaze’s punchy Hedarade bedarade is equally catchy, even though a tad repetitive! Chinmayee’s Maleye maleye is beautiful, with a generously Rahman-styled tune and the singer doing a delightful job. Aralisu’s opening sax takes the Rahman sound further but this mellifluous Rajesh Krishnan-Chinmayee duet is perhaps the most Karnataka-friendly tune amongst the four tracks. Manoj George’s (is he the now-disbanded Antaragni’s violinist?) tunes makes for very pleasant listening!

Keywords: Akul Balaji, Manoj George, Raghu Dixit

Note 1: I believe the movie is out and flopped – very recently. The only reason why I still gave this soundtrack a listen is because of the composer’s name. Is this the same Manoj George of Antaragni fame?

Note 2: This is Milliblog’s 500th post 🙂
