Jithu jilladi, sung by Deva, ends up sounding like Deva’s gaana too, with a formulaic hook and street-smart word-play by Rokesh, while Dub theri step builds on its opening pretty well. En jeevan is meant-for-Saindhavi melody in GVP’s repertoire, and Vaikom Vijayalakshmi’s cameo is a lovely touch! Eena meena teeka cleverly appropriates Mera joota hai japani, with Uthara Unnikrishnan stealing the show. Chella kutti is MSV’s Sippi irukkudhu, set in Goa; aptly foot-tapping, while Raangu is passable Andhra-style kuthu. Bombay Jayashri is perfect for the pleasant Thaimai, in Pulamaipithan’s verse, possibly set to Desh raaga. Limited pori in this Theri.
