Poojai (Music review), Tamil – Yuvan Shankar Raja

Devathai ticks off all facets of a catchy Yuvan track, with Nivas adding good value. Yuvan sings Uyire in his typical off-key way, with horrendous Tamil diction, killing an already sad song. Ippadiye is too templatized too comment, evoking many songs including Dhaavani potta. Odi odi provides musical ammunition to the standard Hari montage of the hero running around, looking angry and important. Soda bottle arrives broken, but the soundtrack’s best is Verarum, an indulgent rhythm carrying the lilting tune wonderfully, along with Karthik and Pooja’s winsome vocals. Generally bland music, but slightly better music than the average Hari fare.
