Shubha Mudgal headlines Jal de in style, the composing duo conjuring an expansive, Ahir Bhairav and Chakravakam-style sound. Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan and Suzanne’s vocal combination makes superb impact in the truly world music’ish You fill my life. Sonu sounds daringly different in the pulsating Zaalima, while Ambarish Das’s soulful vocals add depth to Paani si. Amongst the profusion of instrumentals that showcase Bickram’s strengths, Sweet Dream of Water’s ghatam-backed tune, flute and ghatam combo in Mesmerized by Rann and the lovely sarangi-sarod mix in Ankhiyan work very well. Tremendous step forward by Sonu and Bickram, after a tepid debut!
