Damaal Dumeel (Music review), Tamil – Thaman S

Thaman seems to be in a hurry with Dumeel, recycling his old rhythm, but Usha Uthup’s vocals do add some novelty, occasionally sounding like LR Eswari in Osthi’s Kalsala. Same story in Odi idi – recycling of that very familiar rhythm, with Shankar Mahadevan coming to Thaman’s aid with his vocals. Pogadhae has Remya Nambeesan in great form, aided no doubt by an almost 80s Raja style mellifluous tune, while Saga saga has a nice, punchy rhythm helping the minimal anthemic tune. The theme tune passes muster. A standard-issue Thaman soundtrack that doesn’t have the titular damaal dumeel in it.
