Prashant seems to be trying something innovative in Ithu jeevitham, but despite the heady experimentation and Karthik, Gowri and Charan Raj, the song ends up sounding awkward. That experimentation works well in Koode irikkaam, a free-flowing tune beautifully layered with sax and guitars, along with fantastic singing by Haricharan and Gayathri Asokan. Nakshathram pol, a vintage, semi-classical ghazal is rendered delightfully by Preeti Pillai, while Pettidam Aarum evokes similar atmospheric whiff of Fool’s Garden’s Lemon Tree, but eventually holds its own. After a string of wonderful soundtracks, Prasanth Pillai’s material for Lal Jose seems like an odd detour that doesn’t entirely work.
