Varuthapadatha Vaalibar Sangam (Music review), Tamil – D.Imman

Hariharasudhan’s Oodhaa kalaru opens the soundtrack a fabulous note – typical Imman-material with all likeable elements like the catchy tune and punchy rhythm! Indha ponnungale reeks of the composer’s Manam Kothi Paravai, but still makes for a compelling listen! Paakaadhae and Yennada are those melodies that Imman is currently known for – whiff of Ilayaraja and consistently captivating orchestration in both. The title song is at best a medley that sticks to its authentic folk roots but makes it difficult to follow. Imman continues his good run, though there is now a clear indication that this style is getting mildly exhausting.
