Mudhal mazhai and Vizhiyile vizhiyile are tunes that are too steeped in familiar templates to make a significant impact – passable melodies at best, both. Rowdy girls is all faux attitude and bad accent. Saregama and Ghani Khamma (in Hindi, by Hindustani singer Meghana Dandekar!) are short, melodious and interesting. Kaadhal indha kaadhal is where debutant Simon really makes his presence felt with that free-flowing, gorgeous melody. And in Elavu, Simon not only sings it, but also adds a funky hip-hop spin to a traditionally ominous song and makes it his own! Middle-of-the-road debut by Simon, with two standout tracks!
