Swamy Ra Ra (Music review), Telugu – Sunny M.R.

Krishnudi varasulantha is eclectic in its choice of music! It seems vaudevillian, but is bloody nuanced in the way it has been assembled – Arijit Singh pulls off a superb show with his faultless vocals! Adi enti okkasari too makes stupendous use of Arijit Singh’s whispery vocals amidst soft, wonderfully dreamy music mixing primarily guitar and violin – thoroughly addictive! Edu vaadu evado ledu goes ballistic with its country and rock sound, with Arijit again for the vocals – and he is mighty effective, third time in a row! The song’s reloaded version is a particularly powerful showcase of Sunny’s skills! Life ante is Shefali Alvares’ show all the way – she breezes through the bluesy melody wonderfully well, even as Sunny assembles an equally impressive arrangement to go with it. Yo yo yo memu antha does seem like it is mildly (only mildly) inspired by the overall sound of Yolanda Be Cool’s We No Speak Americano, but Sunny owns it in his unique way, together with Swathi and Nikhil’s vocals – highly engaging and catchy! After being a music producer/mix engineer for Bollywood and select Southern films, Sunny M.R. makes an outstanding, wow-worthy debut in Swamy Ra Ra!

Note: I’m still not entirely sure about the singers used in this soundtrack – I haven’t been able to source the CD and heard it via Saregama’s official jukebox on Youtube and checked the singers on MIO. Arijit Singh is credited for 3 songs while he sounds different in each of these songs! The song with Swathi and Nikhil is publicised heavily in Telugu media, but I do not know if they had it in them to sing so well – or, if Sunny used his mixing skills to make them sound so well!
