Kadhalum‘s dull, droning pathos is punctuated only by Ajeesh and Karthika’s confident vocals. Bombay Jayashree seems to be forced to sing below her usual voice in Ariya paruvathil and even the tune, at best, sounds like a Harris Jeyaraj-reject. Shankar Mahadevan-sung Nee kaattil is amateurish, but the composer scores well with Un paarvai, a reasonably competent duet featuring Hariharan and Harini. The best of the soundtrack are the 2 short pieces – Ajeesh’s Vazhi maari, a gorgeously lilting song and Belly Raj’s Bhoomi engum, a short, soulful, well sung track. Largely non-descript music by composer Jubin, barring small, occasional consolations.
