Casanovva (Music review), Malayalam – Gopi Sundar, Alphons & Gowri

Alphons’ lone track, Kanna neeyo reeks so much of Harris Jeyaraj’s Neruppe that it is not funny; very similar Middle Eastern mix. Composer Gopi Sundar has 2 songs out of which Omanichumma is simple, catchy and easily likeable, while Hey Manohara hip-hop mix is middling. His 3rd, the theme, makes smart use of Mohanlal’s speech amidst massively cringe-worthy backgrounds! That leaves composer Gowri’s sole contribution, Sagiye, to single-handedly elevate the soundtrack. Much like Rahman’s Malargale (Love Birds; after which it is obviously modelled) it seems like a Saraswati and Shuddha Saarang raaga mix and sounds enchanting! Gowri saves this Casanovva.
