The serene Un kangal rides exclusively on Karthik’s fabulous vocals, but the composers play their part smartly too with a catchy hook and memorable interludes. Gada gada and Podu sakka podu sound like decade-old Harris Jayaraj material and only the latter evokes interest thanks to its foot-tapping backgrounds. Yaaro‘s pathos is predictable, but the song stands out for the choice of instruments. The soundtrack’s highlights are the lovely, Kaanada’ish Nee naan, and Shyam’s solo, Kaadhal kadalaai – both offer compelling melodies, that too with oddly interesting rhythm changes! Shyam, Prasan and Praveen’s composing debut is not path-breaking but is certainly noteworthy.
