Superheavy (Music review) – Mick Jagger, Dave Stewart, Joss Stone, Damian Marley & A.R. Rahman

While the presence of Bob Marley’s son – Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley – may have added some reggae, Miracle Worker surprises by going wholly reggae. The result is a Peter Andre-Mysterious Girl-like frivolousness. Rahman adds a few carefully placed Hindi utterances in the Radio Mix. Satyameva Jayathe works better, though there seems to be a conscious attempt to recreate a high-pitched Vande Mataram-like call. That extended music towards the end is typical Rahman – in fact quite reminiscent of parts of Guru’s Barso Re. This 2 song CD sounds merely interesting – hope the complete album has better things in store!
