Poovakkelu sees Raja importing his usually brilliant streak in Malayalam, into Tamil, and this works very well. We get a superbly Raja’esque melody even though that annoying synth makes a somewhat pardonable appearance well into the song. Raja goes Pa-like in his vocals for Kuthikkira kuthikkira, a lilting gem of a song with a continuous rhythm and fascinating violin usage that brings back the golden age of Raja! Adiye ivale seems soaked in nativity, tune, vocals and lyrics-wise, but is largely bland and mish-mash’ish in an audio-only format. Azhagarsaamiyin Kudhirai’s tuneful soundtrack endears due to its brevity and earthy simplicity.
