Manoj K Jayan’s vocals are strictly middling, but the pleasant music more than makes up for it in Mazhayil ninn, while Pichiyum kudamullayum and Swayam marannu paadaam get all parts right – Gayatri and Pradip’s excellent singing and modern ghazal’ish melodies, expertly orchestrated. Franco’s reggae’ish Premamenna is plain and simplistic. Aadyanuragam, Iniyennu kaanum and Mounam sruthimeetti offer resonant, well arranged melodies. Shahbaz Aman’s Mizhipoikhayil has a templatized ghazal sound and laboriously sung and even Paadum poovum too pales in quality compared to the rest. Pradip Somasundaram’s musical debut definitely shows promise but also stops short of going the whole hog.
