Music review: Manasaare (Kannada – Mano Murthy)

Distantly echoing Mungaru Male’s Anisuthide, the title song, with its music-less feel, is very tuneful; thanks to Vikas and Lakshmi’s heartfelt vocals. Naa naguva with Shreya Ghoshal; Shreya’s duet with KK, Kanna haniyondige and Sonu’s Ello maleyaagideyanu, that starts with the title song are all unusually mellow and soaked in the conventional Mano Murthy style of melodies – the last one, with generous santoor use does stand out. Amongst the more active tracks, the Latino-tinged Onde ninna is catchy and lively. The rap-infused Ondu kanasu is quite tacky. Mungaru Male is an unfair comparison, but Manasaare’s soundtrack is largely uninteresting.
