Angaadi Theru opens with the extraordinary-abusive, amusingly-conceived Karungaali naaye! Un perai and Kannil theriyum are instantly likeable – with an enjoyable tunes/ backgrounds combination. GVP’s vocals are wonderful in the latter, while he manages a Yuvan-like lilting melody in the former. Kathaigal pesum is another beauty – the nuanced orchestration and mild rhythms add generous charm to the fantastic tune, while Aval appadi’s lyrics in Vijay Antony’s hummable tune will make adolescents go crazy. The sole pathos track, Enge poveno too, again by Vijay, evokes Yuvan’s style, but with mixed results. Post Veyyil, Vasanthabalan gets neat tunes from GVP, again!
