Music review: Kulir 100 degree (Tamil – Bobo Shashi)

Siragindri parakkalaam is a poor attempt at recreating reggaeton’ish sound, complete with rap phrases à la Dharan, while Boom is annoying in every department. Hip hop hurray’s Spanish twang definitely helps and even Nallavan kettavan is interesting in its intelligent use of 60s villain dialogues, in a catchy hip-hop tune. The mellow numbers, Un uyir nanban and Manasellam, are aptly tuneful, with much better lyrics and nuanced backgrounds. Given Bobo Shashi’s background (being Murali’s – of Sabesh Murali fame – son!…Deva’s clan!), the predominant hip-hop and rap mix is surprising. Sounding like the B-grade version of Dharan doesn’t help, though.

Keywords: Bobo Shashi, Coco Nanda, MC Bullet, Anita Udeep, Purple Patch, Thug Laws, which planet are these people from?
