Bhoothnath (Hindi, Vishal Shekhar)

Posted by Karthik

Mere buddy and Hum to hain aandhi are kiddishly rhythmic, but do precious little other than that for my adult state. Banku bhaiya uses that catch phrase way too often and is exasperating. The mellow ones – the doleful Samay ka pahiya, with Hariharan and the hopeful Chalo jaane de, with Amitabh and Juhi’s vocals (!) reek of Shantanu Moitra’s musical style, but are competent and listenable. Vishal Shekhar fall into the very same trap in Bhoothnath, as Salim Sulaiman did in Chain kuli – how does one compose for a children’s film? For starters, take a cue from Ilayaraja’s Anjali!
