Yaaradi nee mohini faithfully reuses Aadavari matalaku ardhale verule’s soundtrack with the punchy, techno’ish Manasa mannichamma conspicuously missing. Venmegam is as classy as its original with Hariharan in place of SPB while Nenjai kasakki and Yengeyo get butchered mercilessly due to the choice of Udit Narayan. The bland Oh baby is something that didn’t impress me in Telugu and it continues to not impress me. Karthik elevates Oru naalaikkul considerably. This should have been a good soundtrack, with neat, listenable tunes like the Telugu source, but for Yuvan’s choice of Udit Narayan in two of the best songs, quite inappropriately.
Keywords: Dhanush, Nayantara, Selvaraghavan
Note: Considering this soundtrack has the same tunes the Telugu film, ‘Aadavari Matalaku Ardhale Verule’, please refer to my review of the original, here. For your reference, here’s a comparison checklist. Venn megam is Allantha doorala; Yengeyo paartha is Yemaindi; Nenjai kasakki is Cheli chamaku and Oru naalaikkul is Naa manasuki.
