Ethanai varusham has a simple 60s tune but is wrapped in a strange minimalist feel. Halwa ponnu rivals Srikanth Deva’s kuthu songs and succeeds in being even more ridiculous. Pana marathula is thankfully rhythmic and catchy with Ranjith’s vocals being the highlight. Kavitha’s Tamil in Pennalaye is strongly accented, even though the track’s got a hummable tune and nice arrangements. Velan vetri is straight out of a 80s Ilayaraja film, composed as a hero-entry song with an archaic orchestration…thought we had got out of this mode! Shantakaaram with TN Seshagopalan is marginally interesting. Bharadwaj’s music continues in its middling path!
