Anuraga Karikkin Vellam (Music review), Malayalam – Prashant Pillai

Posted by Karthik

Govind Menon offsets Peethambaran Menon’s mildly strained vocals in the title song, a pleasant-enough song with lovely violin phrases. Vaikom Vijayalakshmi headlines Neeyo njano, an enthusiastic song that seems to be demanding its visuals to make it appealing. Preeti Pillai handles the hymn-like Poyi maranjo really well, with Prashant layering the strings admirably well as it progresses. The soundtrack’s highlight is Manogatham bhavaan, with its Coldplay’ish sound, wonderfully endearing melody and splendid singing by Haricharan, and Mathangi, in particular. The way Prashant adds in a sax layer into the song is fantastic. Modest soundtrack from Prashant Pillai, with two highlights.
