Malayalam

Title song – Ivide (Malayalam – Gopi Sundar)
Gopi hands an excellent rock tune to Prithviraj and the actor sinks his vocals beautifully into it, singing it with heart! Gopi’s work, particularly in the haunting interludes and soaring rock sound is, as usual, impeccable!

I remember you – Nee-na (Malayalam – Nikhil J Menon)

Njanoru Malayali – Jilebi (Malayalam – Bijibal)

Thalavara kurippu pusthakam – 32aam Adhyayam 23aam Vaakyam (Malayalam – Bijibal)

Pularri manjin – Lavender (Malayalam – Deepak Dev)

Kannada

Goli hodi – Vascodigama (Kannada – Poorna Chandra Tejaswi)
Poorna Chandra Tejaswi’s music continues to evade me, like it did in Lucia too. Either it is soaked in a local context that I’m not evolved enough to comprehend and appreciate or his kind of sound just doesn’t reach me, for some reason. But, in the curiously titled Vascodigama, at least one song, Goli hodi, worked for me easily. Shankar Mahadevan powers this track like only he can as the composer loads a powerful rhythm in the background to do justice to the tune.

Dove hodibyada & Suri suri – Rx Suri (Kannada – Arjun Janya)
Dove hodibyada is minimum-guarantee kuthu from Arjun – can’t go wrong level kuthu. With Vijay Prakash at the helm, all the more so! Suri suri, on the other hand, is minimum-guarantee melody from Arjun, with Shreya acing the veena-led tune. But yes, seeing Arjun produce minimum-guarantee stuff is a bit disconcerting.

International

Tompkins Square Park – Wilder Mind (Mumford & Sons)
