Asanthuputtene, in Anoop Shankar’s vocals, is earthy and catchy! Nellai cheemayithu sounds like early Rahman’s rustic sound, and that prominent hook is endearing. Vedikkuthu and Ettuthikkum have background’ish sounds at best, while Pipi pipi vocals and tune both sound oddly rudderless. Ambai Shanmugam’s searing vocals add tremendous value to Aalamaram’s pathos, while Champak pampak, after that Sagiye-style prelude rides on an awkward tune. The soundtrack’s best are the unfortunately-short but lovely Yenguthu manasu and Kaathiruppen, an imaginative soul number, well put together, though it lacks the finesse of Adiye, particularly in the singing. Manu shows promise again, after a hiatus.
